Lake vacations used to be about flair -

the super rich show off while the rest roll around in the dirt and lick our dry lips, but that was a long time ago. Luckily, we’re in the 21st century where six-figure yachts and running around topless on a beach are the norm.
It’s awesome to be part of something greater, but before you pack up your bags and run to the closest lake to enjoy the great summer lake scene, just know not every lake is a debaucherous party central.
Here are the best of what America really has to offer.

1. Lake Travis – Texas

Texas is the second-largest state in America (after Alaska) and it makes everything seem larger-than-life just as it is, and the boat parties are no exception. It offers a great double-decker experience complete with a barbecue pit, iPod stereo, and a margarita machine.

2. Lake of the Ozarks – Missouri

If you read the New York Times, then you may have heard of this one - declared one of the most party hardy places in America, with tax laws on toplessness and jaw dropping yachts, it's an awe-inspiring experience.

3. Lake Havasu – Arizona

It’s been featured on MTV's Spring break coverage twice and also dubbed one of the ‘trashiest places to spend the holiday’. It’s one hell of a ride.

4. Lake Cumberland - Kentucky

This lake is the current holder of the Guinness World Records' largest boat tie-up title. It floated a snaking line of 1,651 boats, aqua bikes, jet skis, canoes, kayaks, and inflatables, need more be said?

5. Lake Tahoe – California

This lake is a party oasis for pretty much half on the US, any weekend, any summer, and you’ll stumble into lake-house bonanzas and floating fiestas like no other.

6. Lake Minnetonka – Minnesota

Lake Minnetonka is a sublime watering hole with well over 100 miles of shoreline and 42 bays of exclusive action -

7. Lake Saint Clair – Michigan

Ever heard of Jobbie Nooner? If you haven’t, it’s the largest boat party in the Midwest and ranks pretty high in largest in America. It’s a modern water-based Mardi Gras that happens twice a year.

8. Lake Washington - Washington

Lake Washington boasts of intense water-based action well into the fall, thanks to the neighboring University of Washington’s football stadium - the place where the party truly never dies.

9. Lake Norman - North Carolina

They may have lost the title for the world’s longest boat tie-up, thanks to their pretty strategic ‘V’ formation, but the party still goes strong in this epic joyride.

10. Lake Martin – Alabama

If you’re not a big fan of football, don’t let the incessant cheers deter you from having the blast of a time. It boasts of having hosted Aquapalooza’s most signature event to date and ranking high in the boat-lake party scene. You don’t want to miss it.
